"Serena Dwyer" Okay, This is Chapter 2 of Painful Memories. Not much to say about it....just, I hope you like it. It starts back up at the first scene where it broke for the flashback. Enjoy! ~Serena (E.N.=Editor's Note....k?) Oops! Almost forgot.....(I hate having to say this every time!) I DON'T OWN SAILOR MOON IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!!!!!!! *sigh* Painful Memories-Chapter 2 ---Wednesday night--- "I'm sorry Darien...I didn't mean..." Lita trailed off not knowing what to say. "Hey, it's okay. Don't worry about it." he said a tear forming in the corner of his right eye. He turned and was about to leave when a voice called him back. "Darien!" Mina called. He stopped. It was coming now. The question that he had postponed for so long. "Yeah?" he answered. "Why'd you do it? Why did you say all those things to her?" He sighed. "Why don't you guys come to my place. That's where it all started so I might as well tell it to you there as well." The scouts exchanged puzzeled glances and quietly complied with their friend. On the way to the apartment, they were all lost in their own thoughts about what would force Darien to do such a thing, so uch lost that they didn't see the pink-haired child following them to their destination. Rini hadn't told *anyone* about what was on the note that was left for her from Serena. Serena had told her things on that note that even Serena didn't know. It told her that Serena and Darien were her parents from the future. Back in her time, her parents used to tell her stories of their past lives to try to get her to sleep at bed time. It never worked of course, Rini being far too inquisitive and staying up late asking her parents quetions about everything. The names and events on Serena's letter showed her everything that her parents had told her in attempts to get her to sleep. Ever since Serena had left, Rini had felt the time stream changing. The longer she stayed away, the more it changed. She wondered if Serena stayed away any longer would she even be born? When the group had reached the apartment, Darien began his story. Rini hid in the next room, listening carefully to the conversation. Having a key to the apartment had it's advantages! "Well, it all started with a dream I had. In the dream, Serena was taken from me and killed. Then a voice kept saying to me that if I continued to see "Serenity" as he called her, she would die. And I could never let Serena be hurt. Especially not by my actions!" he exclaimed. "You mean you hurt Serena and made her run away because of a STUPID dream?!?!?" Rei exclaimed. "Forgive me Darien, but that wasn't like you not to think!" Luna told him. "Listen, this dream kept repeating for a month. There had to be *something* to it!" Darien protested. "Whenever I was around her I would get flashes of the dream and him saying that "Serenity" would die!" "Who's *he*?" Ami asked. "I don't know....." "Then why did you listen to him?!? How do you know you can trust him?" Lita asked, ever blunt. "I don't know, he just seems so familiar.....I had no other choice but to trust him....Serena could have been in danger!" he smiled grimly. "In a way, I guess it's better this way. Now I'm not near her so she can't be hurt. She's the only one I ever loved. Or ever *could* love." "Yeah, but what about me?" A voice asked. Rini came out from hiding, as all eyes turned towards her. "Oh Rini, we know you miss Serena-" Mina started. "Yeah, I do, but if she doesn't come back, I won't be around to miss her." "What do you mean Rini?" Lita asked. "I mean I'll never be born if she and Darien don't get back together!" she sighed inwardly as she saw it went WAY over their heads. 'I'm not going to try to get them to understand' she thought and continued with the rest of what she had to say. "Look, I've been doing some research on my own and with a little info about you the scouts, yes I do know about you guys, and with putting a few things together, I finally know what's going on!" Rini crossed the room and sat down on the couch between Darien and Rei. With all eyes and her, satisfied, she began to tell them of what she found. "Well, first of all Darien, I know who sent you those dreams." "Who?!?" "You did." This was met by a quizzical scilence that filled the room until it was about to burst. "Wha-how-who?" Darien sputtered in disbelief. "That is, your future self did." she corrected herself. "Why would I do that to myself?" he asked. "Well, as you know, the time stream can change every time around.....Well, he, or you, wanted to test your feelings towards eachother. He had to be sure that you guys could survive the test because of what you have to face together in the future." Rini told him. "Why? Why does that matter?" Darien asked Rini. "Because, in the future, you and Serena are married and are the rulers of Crystal Tokyo. You guys were supposed to go through hellish obstacles and enemies together. To do that and triumph, you had to be strong." Rini filled him in. She wasn't sure if she should be telling him this or not, but at this moment, she had no other choice. "Well, I hope he's happy 'cause I failed miserably." Darien moaned pitifully. "But anything could happen yet....right?" asked Lita. "The time stream has an unusual way of repairing itself." Ami thought out loud. "Who knows....it could all work out!" "Myself and Serena...."Darien murmured. "How come you never told us before?" "Because I never knew until Serena ran away and left me a note telling me about her life on the moon. The names and events were way to alike from what I knew to be false." Rini answered. "She left you a note too? How come she ever told us?!?" Rei exclaimed. "It's a note....get over it!" Rini said impatiently. "Now we have to find some way to find Serena!" The dark figure crouching on Darien's balcony that was watching and listening to the conversation that had just taken place, took to the rooftops. There was no sign of the clumsiness or klutziness that had once resided in the body. Now movements were like poetry. Fluid and smooth. The slight frame now radiated confidence and maturity. Although she had only caught snatches of the conversation, she had heard one thing loud and clear. Rini was her daughter from the future. Not only that but her's and *Darien's* daughter. Fourteen months ago she'd have been estatic to hear this....but since she had left and come back a month ago, she had tried to put aside her feelings for Darien and deperately tried to forget him. (E.N.--She didn't hear the part of him still loving her) Since coming back to Tokyo a month ago, she had witnessed many fights between the scouts and their enemies. She had almost stepped in these past few times, but they had always managed to finish it off just in time. She had always wondered about the strange connection between her, Rini and Darien....Now she knew what it was. They were a-a-a *family* she forced herself to think it. But how could that be? He hated her, she was trying to forget he even existed, and Rini..... Rini might not even be born the way it looked now! Tears started to spring to her eyes, but were fiercely blinked back. When she reached the park, she took a left and went down the street to her apartment. Despite the fact that she had been a total slob previous to her move away from home, she was surprisingly clean now. Everything in her apartment was kept in order, and looked like a teenager had never set foot in there. In fact, the only indication that this was the former Serena's apartment were the pictures in her bedroom. There were some of her family, others of the scouts, many of Darien (some broken), and plenty of her, Darien and Rini, plus a very cute one of Rini in her school uniform. Also, on the wall above her bed was a hand drawn portrait of her mother on the moon. She had many hidden talents and one had turned out to be drawing, although she still couldn't paint. As she walked into her apartment, she looked back on the past year. Before she had returned to Tokyo, she lived in Canada with a kindly family who had taken her in, who had reminded her of her own family which had made her not so homesick. She had continued her studies and become marvelous in English, also picking up a bit of French, also, she managed to bring up her grades drasticly. While there, she wanted some money of her own, so she got a job in an Arcade in a nearby mall. With all this on her plate, she was forced to become responsible and mature without even knowing it. But as she looked back on what she was before, she wondered where the change had begun. After a year with the Dwyer's (A.N. Hey! I want to be mentioned in the story too! An author has got to have *some* rights!), she felt that she could cope with her emotions, and decided to return to Tokyo. She got a job at the same arcade that Andrew worked at and paid for her apartment, but seeing Darien everyday as he came in and pass by each time was tearing her apart. Even though she was disguised as someone else and he had no clue, that she was Serena, she felt as if she was being punished by him for running away. Now she was in turmoil and wondered if she should have come back at all. The Dwyer's said that she would be able to come back anytime and now she was seriously considering the offer. But then, she would have to stage a dissaperance for "Selene Dwyer". her alter ego. No one knew of Serena's reapperance, just of "Selene's" move to Tokyo from Canada. Selene wasn't your typical everyday sort of teenager....in fact, she looked very out of place in Japan, having a Canadian flare about her, but covered that up well, always seeing to know customs and traditions in the area. She wasn't very social, in fact her social life consisted of talking with Molly and working at the arcade. All extra time was either shopping for groceries (occasionally with Molly for clothes and cute gadgets), studying and homework, or drawing and writing for leisure. She also attended all senshi fights, having a built in instinct whenever Darien transformed. She declined all date offers to the confusion of everyone, she being almost as beautiful as the origional Serena was. Everyone had come to the conclusion that she had a long distance relationship with some guy over in Canada. Selene attended the same school as Lita and Amy, Juuban high school, and had even been put in the same class as them, in her old class, with the same teacher. Ms. Haruna. Selene smiled when she thought of her. She hadn't changed a bit! She wondered what kind of reaction she'd get in Ms. H. found out that her hard working student, Selene was really her former flake student Serena. Then with a giggle she remembered how she had always wondered why Ami was so smart....only to discover that all it took was a little work to get good grades and Ami a run for her money to be the smartest in the class! As for her style, she now wore common clothes from North America. She usually dressed in flared jeans, tank-tops and 3 inch platformish shoes. Her brown hair fell around her face gently, and came to just above her shoulders. She wore just a touch of eye make-up to accent her soft grey eyes, and some tinted lip gloss to enhance her usual smile. About 5'5", she was average height and hoped not to grow anymore. She had matured very nicely and turned heads everywhere she went, with curves in all the right places and her delicate features, although looking knowledgeable, also allowing her to appear very innocent. "Selene" changed back into Serena with a wave of her hand, and realizing how tired she was, decided that she needed some sleep. She had work right after school tomorrow and then she had to pay Rini a visit. She had found out that the little munchkin was good at keeping secrets! @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Kay! That's it for this one....sorry nothing really interesting is happening yet, but next week I'll hopefully have number 3 up, and that has a better stroyline or whatever to it! But I have to explain something....I had a comment on this. Most of my fanfic will be in Serena's point of view. Now I will tend to flick back and forth sometimes from her to Darien's point of view, so try not to be confused if you hear Darien thinking and all of a sudden I switch and talk about Serena. I'll try to fix it up a bit.....Sorry for the confusion! Otherwise.....how was it? I WANT COMMENTS!!!! (and thanx to all those who took the time to e-mail me!!!!! I really appreciate it!!!!) I'd also like some suggestions for some good fanfics to read! So if you write....tell me in your e-mail to me! Thanx! ~Serena ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
